Specialty Polymers Division - Industry

Plastral supplies a range of thermoplastic resins suitable for injection moulding, sheet and profile extrusion and blow moulding. The range includes standard, high impact and copolymer acrylic moulding granules, polycarbonate and polycarbonate alloys, PET and PETG, glass reinforced PET and PBT, PPS, stainless steel fibre conductive masterbatch. Applications range from automotive signal lighting, traffic management lighting, HID and commercial lighting, drinkware, injection blow moulded and blow moulded bottles, packaging, electrical fittings, and high temperature metal replacement.

With technically trained and experienced plastics technologists, Plastral functions more as a manufacturer’s representative than a distributor. Plastral has been the exclusive Australian and New Zealand distributor for a number of European, North American and Asian resin suppliers for many years.

Beki-Shield® Stainless Steel Fibres

Supplied in masterbatch form. Beki-Shield® stainless steel fibres are an excellent means to make thermoplastics, elastomers, rubbers, floor and wall coatings conductive for EMI shielding or ESD protective purposes.

  • EMI shielding. Non conductive plastics are transparent to electro-magnetic radiation and can prevent the use of plastics for some electronic devices. One solution is to make the plastic conductive by adding Beki-Shield® stainless steel fibres.
  • ESD protection. Electrically insulating plastics and coatings can cause electrostatic charging and discharging problems in some applications. Addition of Beki-Shield® fibres makes the polymer conductive to prevent charge build up or provide a safe path for current discharge.
  • Increased thermal conductivity.
  • Enable light or pastel colours.

Applications
  • Static resistant flooring.
  • Castor wheels.
  • Fuel systems.
  • Electronic equipment housing.
